Watch: Incredible 9-Year-Old Carries His Disabled Brother In Triathlons, Pair Wins Sports Illustrated ‘SportsKids Of The Year’
April 22, 2014
Cayden's parents were told that their son would be a 'vegetable' and they should consider putting him in a home. But his older brother, Connor, would have none of that. One day his mom was reading a magazine and read about a kids triathlon which would be taking place. Connor asked her what it was about, and then wondered out loud whether he could do it with his brother.
And thus was an incredible story born, as Connor has carried his younger brother across the finish line of numerous triathlons, including IronKids, forging ahead out of a desire to give his brother the experience, and to raise awareness about disabilities.
"When I see him smiling and laughing, that means he's having a good time," Connor told ESPN. In 2012, the pair were the recipients of Sports Illustrated Kids 2012 SportsKids of the Year award. They couldn't have been more deserving!
